If you want to taste the most exclusive and rarest of beers, it’s all about the wood! This brand new event celebrates barrel-aged beers from some of BC’s top breweries.
All About the Wood is generously sponsored by Bayview Place.
This brand new event celebrates the rare and special qualities of barrel-aged beers. Only a select number of BC’s best breweries have the capacity to age beers in wood, which means these are very exclusive beers. Taste the difference that barrels make in a wide range of beer styles, including sours, Brett-conditioned beers, barley wines, imperial stouts and others.
The venue for this event is the Roundhouse at Bayview Place, specifically the Car Shop. Originally constructed in 1913, the Roundhouse is a former Canadian Pacific Railway structure. Now formally recognized as a National Historic Site, the Roundhouse is part of the ongoing Bayview Place redevelopment. Eventually, all the landmarks of the Roundhouse’s glorious past—the engine sheds, car shop, turntable, water and sand towers—will be transformed into an immersive destination marketplace that will tell the story of the land’s past, and paves the way for the future.
The Roundhouse will prove to be a unique and special venue for this unique and special event. For more information about the Roundhouse/Bayview Place, visit: roundhousemarketplace.com.

The Car Shop is located next to Esquimalt Rd across from Victoria West Park. We definitely discourage anyone to drive to this event, but if you are being dropped off, car access is off of Catherine Street (entrance across from Trek Bicycles/Spinnakers Brewpub). It is a fairly easy walk (1km) from the Blue Bridge, and several buses stop nearby (Esquimalt/Catherine stop is closest).
Our friends at West Coast Brewery Tours have generously offered to run a shuttle service from downtown beginning at 12:45pm with later departures at 1:15pm, 1:45pm & 2:15pm. Pickup locations are at Ticket Rocket (101-804 Broughton Street) or Swans Hotel & Brewpub (506 Pandora Ave). The shuttle will return people downtown beginning again at 5:00pm.
